The Frontier Wrestling Alliance finally returned this past Sunday at the Broxbourne Civic Hall for New Frontiers 2009. In front of a packed house at the spiritual home of the old FWA, New Frontiers has certainly created a lot of news to report.

First 3 names advance into the FWA World Title Tournament
As a result of the matches at New Frontiers, the FWA now has its first 3 qualifiers for the upcoming tournament to crown the new FWA World Champion. Bubblegum advanced after his shocking win over Dave Moralez. Joel Redman advances after his win via disqualification over the Kartel’s Terry Fraizer. Finally Martin Stone advances into the first round after his victory against Doug Williams. Pac and Leroy Kincaide sadly fought to a double count out taking both men out of the tournament completely. This now leaves 5 places left in the tournament, for which the qualifying matches are expected to take place at the FWA’s next event at the Electric Palace in Bridport, Dorset on Saturday September 26th.

“Rock Star” Spud qualifies for the FWA Flyweight Round Robin tournament
One of the biggest talking points coming out of the new FWA was the victory by Spud in the qualifying 4 way match for the FWA Flyweight Title tournament due to start later in the year. “Rock Star” Spud silenced critics by getting pin fall victories over both Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm in the same match.Spud, who also performed the Bon Jovi classic “Livin on a Prayer” has since boasted that he may also wish to qualify for the FWA World Title tournament which he is eligible to do on September 26th, as are the other men who took part in the four way at New Frontiers.

The FWA’s tag division gets off to a flying start
New Frontiers saw the start of the FWA’s new tag team division. In the show opener, “The Leaders of the New School” consisting of Zak Zabre Jnr and Marty Scrull beat the new team of Northern Xposure comprising of Joey Hayes and CJ Banks. Later on in the show the new team of Stixx and Malen challenged the winners of the FWA Unsigned tag team Main Event, Dave Rayne and Sam Bailey. Rayne and Bailey accepted despite the former suffering a rib injury in their match earlier in the day against the team of Alex Cyanide and Jack Toxic collectively known as “Lethal Dose”. The team of Malen and Stixx (who is himself already a former FWA tag team champion) were victorious against the Manchester based Rayne and Bailey and have already signed to wrestle on September 26th.

The Wrestlers Reunion charitable trust fund is launched
August 2nd saw history be made as the FWA helped launch the Wrestler’s Reunion Charitable Trust Fund.Due to a last minute emergency Wayne Bridges was not able to attend but British Wrestling legend Tony Scarlo stepped in to launch the project. Scarlo was the first TV opponent of the Dynamite Kid and is also the father of one of the FWA founders, Dino Scarlo. The live crowd made very generous donations and the trust fund is all ready looking like it will be a real success. Interviews will be filmed to promote the fund at this Sunday’s annual wrestlers reunion in Kent.

Andrew Simmons makes his presence felt
Formerly one of the FWA’s most popular stars as the butler to the Duke of Danger, Andy Simmons made his return to the FWA at New Frontiers. Already scheduled for interview time in the show, he asked the FWA production crew during Tony Scarlo’s speech if he could come out and make a donation. What could have been a very nice gesture turned into a very uncomfortable situation for FWA management and fans alike when Simmons felt that he had been snubbed by retired World of Sport star Tony Scarlo who did not know who he was. Now asking to be referred to as “The All Time Great” Andrew Simmons, he was accompanied to the ring by BBC 1 Total Wipe Out winner Ricky Hype. Hype, who is apparently Andrew Simmons corner man, won £10,000 on the show after telling viewers that he would do just that straight from the start leading to his ever present catch phrase “You better believe the Hype” a phrase he has thrown around aplenty about “The All Time Great”.

Dave Moralez suspended for 6 months
After his FWA World Heavyweight Title Qualifying match loss to Bubblegum, Dave Moralez assaulted referee Tommy Stevens. The strike given by Moralez to Steven’s has caused damage to the referee’s hearing and was the result of what Moralez claimed was a fast count. As the FWA is very serious about it’s rules, the decision was made to suspend Moralez after review of the DVD by FWA Management.

An FWA spokesperson gave the following comments “It is unfortunate to lose any talent on our roster for 6 months however the actions taken by Moralez and the force behind it are simply unacceptable. Tommy Stevens is still suffering from hearing problems and as anyone who witnessed the slap he received will tell you, the noise that came from it sounded like a gun shot. Tommy has not asked to press charges but would have been well within his rights to do so. Dave Moralez’s suspension is a clear indication that we will not accept violence against our referees, particularly in such a premeditated fashion.”
Dave Moralez was not available for comment.

FWA comes to the Electric Palace
The FWA will present it’s next event on Saturday 26th September, at the Electric Palace in Bridport, Dorset. The event will feature more qualifying matches for the FWA World Title Tournament and will be made available on DVD just 7 working days after the event for fans who can’t attend. The event is part of the company’s drive to be a national promotion whilst giving fans the chance to follow the monthly events on DVD. Box office information will be available at www.FWAUK.com next week.

FWA returns to Broxbourne for Carpe Diem 2009
The FWA will kick off it’s World Title tournament on Saturday October 3rd at the Broxbourne Civic Hall for it’s event Carpe Diem 2009. The event will see four first round matches in the tournament already featuring Martin Stone, Bubblegum and Joel Redman. Box office information will be available at www.FWAUK.com next week.
