25/11/07 – STORM v PHERE…“THERE WILL BE NO REMATCH!”
After the disturbing events in the aftermath of Jonny Storm’s successful British Heavyweight Title defence last night at XWA Last Fight At The Prom, XWA boss Greg Lambert released this statement:
“Last night we saw one of the finest, most keenly-fought British Heavyweight Title matches in the history of the XWA and The Morecambe Dome when ‘The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm pinned ‘The Psychotic Warrior’ Johnny Phere to retain the title.
However, this excellent match was marred by the crazed actions of Johnny Phere after his defeat. Phere took it upon himself to assault both myself and a young member of the XWA ring crew, then refused to leave the ring for around 10 minutes while intimidating several XWA fans with his unsporting and downright terrifying behaviour.
It is for this reason that I have decided that on Saturday February 2 2008 at XWA Gold Rush, Johnny Phere will not receive a title rematch against Jonny Storm. Instead, I am presently considering the merits of several other worthy contenders before I announce the next challenger for the British Heavyweight Title.”
In a related news item, several XWA fans have contacted us to complain that Johnny Phere – who had previously claimed that he would go undefeated the entire calendar year of 2007, which he called the Year of Phere - has sent them abusive messages by MySpace since his title match loss.
One of these messages reads as follows:
“I’ve worked too damn hard to let this end now! The Year of Phere is not over!!!! Jonny Storm doesn’t realise what he’s done! Nobody can fathom what he’s done!!! He’s made the biggest mistake of his life!! Now I’m gonna make it hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

25/11/07 – THE GOLD RUSH, COMING SOON
The XWA will return to the Morecambe Dome on Saturday February 2 2008 for the annual Gold Rush event.
As always the Gold Rush will be headlined by a 15-man, over the top rope Battle Royal where the prize for the winner will be a shot at the British Heavyweight Title, currently held by last year’s Gold Rush winner ‘The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm.
You will be able to see the 15 contestants in the Gold Rush announced exclusively on this website in the coming weeks, as well as news of other matches to be signed for the XWA’s annual curtain-raiser.
