ASW

Broady Steele remains the ASW British Heavyweight Champion mainly because of a distinct lack of title defences to date. That’s going to change in 2008 hopefully and on January 26th he’s due to defend his title against former WWE star Jean Pierre Oullet in Hanley. Two foreigners competing for the British title? What next, an Italian managing the England football team?

The British National Championship

The year-long competition has seen a few surprise results to date with first round casualties including the ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness and Pac. McGuinness travelled back to the UK shortly after winning the ROH World Title but his chances of adding the British National Championship to his King of Europe Cup victory earlier in the year disappeared with a DQ loss to James Tighe. Meanwhile Pac travelled up to Middlesbrough for a 3CW card and lost to The Last Ninja.

The second round is taking shape with some great matches on their way. Mark Sloan takes on his tag partner Wade Fitzgerald, Andy Boy Simmonz takes on Dan Head and Sha Samuels from The Kartel faces James Tighe.

For full details of the tournament go to the British National Championship section in the UK News Centre at www.piledriver-online.co.uk and at www.ipwuk.com

1PW

Darren Burridge better not have too big a Christmas dinner as he’s due to be defending his 1PW Open Weight Title against Pac on an Underground card at the Granby in Doncaster on December 29th.

1PW’s first card of the year is ‘No Regrets’ at the Doncaster Dome on January 26th with matches confirmed so far including a Hardcore battle between The Sandman and Ulf Hermann, Darren Burridge faces Jerry Lynn, with the Open Weight title on the line if still champion.
