Italy’s Nr. 1 promotion celebrated its two-hundredth show in ten years this month.

Italian Championship Wrestling (ICW) has a long history as its first show was held in Turin on 23rd July 2001 in front of 7 (SEVEN) enthusiastic fans. Almost ten years later, ICW reached the historical number of two hundred shows, celebrating it with a special event named
“Il Numero 200” (Number 200) that took place in Lodi (the promotion’s base) on April 16th in front of more than 350 fans.
To make that night unforgettable ICW provided not only the best of the best of the Italian wrestling scene but also two of the hottest European wrestlers: UK’s
“Vigilante” Johnny Moss and
Bad Bones from Germany!
Moss (who wrestled Jeff Jarrett at Wembley Arena during the last TNA “Maximum Impact” European Tour in January) challenged ICW Italian Champion Kobra trying to succeed where only the Swiss wrester Ares and the Austrian Chris “The Bambikiller” Raaber succeeded before: taking the
ICW Heavyweight Title outside the Italian soil. However,
Italian Champion Kobra successfully defended his belt winning a very hard-hitting match, as the Italian champ revealed at Sportal.It just after the bout:
“I have to admit it: Johnny Moss is one of the toughest men I’ve wrestled in my entire career. In spite of it, the most important thing is that at the end of the show the ICW Italian Championship belt is still on my waist!”.
Bad Bones was instead part of a special 4-Way Match valid for the
ICW Interregional Title, also involving the champion
Mariel (who just came back to the ring-action after his long experience in the Albanian edition of “Big Brother”) and the former friends now enemies
OGM and
Shock, who eventually won the match fulfilling a dream:
“At “ICW Il Numero 100”, I was a fan attending the show and dreaming about becoming a wrestler. I would have never expected to be here, four years later, as the ICW Interregional Champion!”.
Another highlight of the show was the
“Assedio alla Sedia” Match (an ICW traditional chairs match), involving two former ICW Italian champion:
Kaio and
Charlie Kid. “L’imperatore” (The Emperor) Kaio won the match with the help of his stable-mates confirming himself as the most serious contender in the ICW Heavyweight division.
In addition, during the show the 2-time Tag Team Champion
Pitbull and popular manager
Victor Mansfield (two historical ICW members now retired from the scene) have been inducted in the
ICW Hall of Fame.
