-ERIK ISAKSEN BLOG FOR WRESTLEUROPE.COM-
A little bit of this and a little bit of that....

Well, I have not posted a new blog since January, so I thought it was about time to write another blog.

What's going on in Erik Isaksen's life? In February, I started a new wrestling-related job as TV commentator on Eurosport. Every Monday evening, I commentate two different WWE programmes. "This Week" shows highlights of RAW, Smackdown and ECW. "Vintage Collection" consists of classic matches, mostly from the 1980s and 1990s. My co-commentator is Thomas Hansvoll, a former professional boxer who was in the top 10 of the world in his division. I enjoy commentating wrestling.

Early in the year, I wrestled championship matches in Finland and also in England. I was unsuccessful in regaining the Fight Club Finland championship from Valentine in February. After almost two years as WAW World Champion, The Zebra Kid won the title in April. The 600+ crowd at The Talk in Norwich was vocal during the whole match and had a collective "orgasm" when their local hero won. This was definately one of my hardest matches so far this year. The Zebra Kid can really kick ass, and this night, I was his opponent...

One of my former arch-rivals, Starbuck, joined forces with me in a tag team match in Norway in June. Due to our importance in building up the wrestling scene in Finland and Norway, we called ourselves "The Pioneers". Despite being the pioneers, we were heavily booed

It took quite a few years, but finally, I faced Michael Kovac in a single match when the Riotgas Wrestling Alliance (RWA) in Austria booked that match for their June show. Michael Kovac is one of the most respected veterans on the European wrestling scene, and he is a great wrestler. RWA are doing well for themselves, getting close to 1.000 people to their big event in Entzersfeld.

In the next few months, I wrestle in Denmark and also in Austria. For the first time in my career, I am booked to wrestle an Iron Man match when I face the Danish Pro Wrestling champion Chaos. That will be interesting...

On a sad note: The 10th October is two years since Isak "Rain" Bjerknes passed away in a car crash. He is not forgotten.

There are some positive things happening at the moment that I will save for a future blog.

Thank you for reading.

Best wishes,
Erik
