1.2.09

What a few days for the A-Merchandise team. Offers, confirmations and new projects a plenty and it is already time for another update.

Doug Williams confirmed
-----------------------

Doug Williams
When the renowned Wrestling Observer holds its annual awards, one man’s name always features in the ‘Best Technical Wrestler’ category. That of Doug Williams.

An ambassador around the world, Doug Williams has become a firm favourite amongst Pro Wrestling NOAH executives, and was one of the men instrumental in bringing the renowned promotion to our shores for the very first time last year. He has also made a name for himself in the US, where his technical skill has lead him to major victories in the US in Ring of Honor and a firm showing in the King of Indies tournament, as well as gaining him a TNA contract.

The Anarchist is quite probably one of the most gifted wrestlers to grace our shores for many years. Doug has been the proud holder of titles in promotions worldwide, as well as multiple belts here in the UK.

If one man could be seen as being the blueprint for what true technical wrestling is all about, Doug Williams could be that man. UK fans may never see a wrestler as truly gifted as Doug Williams in their lifetime again, and for that reason they should savour every opportunity they get to see him. In May, further opportunities to witness the skills of Doug Williams await every wrestling fan in the UK.

Doug Williams v Paul london
Fans of Ring of Honor remember Paul London. The TRUE Paul London. The risk-taking, daredevil Paul London that could employ deathdefying moves that made crowds beg him ‘Please Don’t Die’.

But these fans also remember the Paul London that could have absolutely terrific matches with technical wrestlers such as Bryan Danielson and Nigel Mcguinness.....and Doug Williams.

May’s Supercard of Europe show will have yet another dream match to add to its already stacked collection when Paul London battles Doug Williams.

Williams isn’t foreign to the concept of facing smaller highfliers, having faced the likes of Jodie Fleisch, Jonny Storm and others numerous times in the past. Williams has also vanquished high profile import stars in the past, from the likes of Eddie Guerrero to American Dragon Bryan Danielson.
wr
But Doug Williams will not be underestimating Paul London. Williams is well aware of London’s credentials, and has had plenty of opportunity to scout him through videotapes and DVDs. Williams has no doubt already devised several counters for London’s aerial offence, and no doubt this will lead to some tremendous back and forth action in this match.

Will London get a win in his namesake town? Or can Williams bring about another in a long line of UK victories? Either way, this match will be important for both, who want to take a step further in Pro Wrestling Octane, and gain a victory in a match that every wrestling fan who attends the Supercard of Europe will be looking forward to seeing.

Doug Williams v Johnny Saint
As Johnny Saint was in the 1970s and 1980s, Doug Williams has been over the best decade. Both men are the wrestlers that other wrestlers in the UK and worldwide look up to. Both men are skilled above and beyond their peers. Both men have travelled worldwide and dazzled audiences across the globe. Both men are ambassadors for the British wrestling style having taken that influence overseas.

But who is the best? Well, at risk of paraphrasing Harry Hill, there is only one way to find out....

On May 2nd, the best will face the best as Doug Williams and Johnny Saint clash one on one at [R]evolution.

Holds will be countered, submissions will be reversed, and cradles will be kicked out of. Without a doubt, this match will be one that wrestlers and fans alike will be watching in awe from bell to bell. This will be a match that will be a once in a lifetime experience for wrestling fans to witness, and a match that may well be one of the best matches in UK wrestling history.

Whether the match entirely lives up to that piece of hyperbole or not, one thing is certain – on May 2nd, wrestling fans – true wrestling fans – are in for an absolute treat.

International Incident?
-------------------------
With speculation running wild regarding the remaining competitors to be announced for the Octane events. We are giving the fans a chance to voice their opinions, and all you have to do is post your suggestions for actual consideration. Please feel free to e-mail us at info@prowrestlingoctane.co.uk or simply post a reply on any fan forum stating your choice and why. One Japanese and one American competitor. Please keep it realistic as time is currently limited with a few other big projects already underway and fruitless posts will just be ignored.
