-INTERVIEW WITH REBECCA KNOX-
by Matteo Zappalà

She was the best female wrestler in Europe and one of top 10 in the world at the age of 18. She worked all over the globe: Europe, USA, Canada, Japan. She was ready for a major. But a bad injury stop her dream...

-Firstable, how you doing? Because no one have detailed news from you since months! :)
Im good, a little cold...

-Why did you decide to start wrestling?

I just wanted to get fit and it looked like a fun way to go about it.

-What kind of girl were you in adolescence?

A hippy girl with really cool hair and awful clothes.

-I read that wrestling saved your life in adolescence, could you explain more your declaration? Why?

Ah, it just put me on the right track I think, it gave me a discipline I hadnt had before and I became more focused and less rebellious.

-When did you understand that wrestling was the job that you wanna do for the rest of your life? And when did you understand that you were becoming very famous and appreciated in the business?

Well in fairness, I dont think I was famous but thanks for thinking so! Also, I was 19 when I stopped wrestling so It obviously wasnt what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. But I was a big fan of the adrenaline rush and I thought I wanted to do it after a good match where I tagged with my brother against Paddy Morrow and was a heel. That was fun!

-Let's talk about the injury, what do you remember of that night? Could you tell us something more than the internet rumours?

I remember feeling like frankenstein.

-Why there were a lot of “mistery” after the injury? Nobody knew anything about your health and your future...for months.

I was a wee 19 year old, and after the injury I had moved to Florida... mainly to wrestle, but then I couldnt and decided I didnt want to anyway, it was just a very tough time for me, and I didnt want to talk to anybody because I had a hard time trying to figure out where my head was at...

-After months, in May, the Chickfight announced your return in wrestling for their show in UK. But...what happen? Dann Read(Chickfight Boss) cut a strong promo during the night about your no-show? Do you want to reply to him?

Never saw it, dont blame him if he said anything bad though... I really was very confused at that time. Real sorry for all the disappointment I caused, I kept getting urges to go back, then couldnt face the fact that my gut was screaming at me not to, and just didnt want to face it. very stupid of me I know, it really was a difficult and depressing time for me if Im to be honest.

-Why did you decide to leave wrestling? Are you scared for your health?

No, I just didnt want to do it anymore. There are other things I want to accomplish.

-Do you miss the fact that you don't wrestle anymore? Leaving wrestling changed your life?

Not really, I miss the adrenaline, the wrestlers, the fans, the discipline and the k-nox, and wrestling is so much fun.

-What kind of job are you doing after leaving wrestling?

Flight attendant and personal trainer

-What do you think about the european female wrestling? And what about the joshi scene in Japan and in USA..

Well, I dont watch or follow it anymore. Im sure the girls are doing great and holding their own, when i left everyone was awesome and getting better

-What's your best memories of your career? Any regrets?

The people. The biggest regret I have is how I left.

-What are your plans for the future?

I dont really have one right now, There are things I want to do, but I dont have any plans at the moment, and Im okay with that, theres something realy exciting about not having a clue where youre going.

-Do you still practice sport?

Sure do, boxing, snowboarding, surfing, yoga, running, weight lifting, cycling, hiking etc etc

-Music and dance were a part of your character: do you listen a lot of music in your freetime? What kind of music do you like?

Most music, except dance and trance, I love rock and hip hop. I couldnt live without my ipod

-You had the opportunity to visit a lot of amazing countries around the world..What do you remember, or what do you think of them?
-Japan: excellent, friendliest people in the world
-USA: I want to live in manhattan
-Germany: their chocolate is amazing
-France: its beautiful
-Canada: Some of my favourite people live here
-Italy:I ate far too much pizza and want to go back for more, actually that was one of my favourite tours

-Well, “professional” questions are over..so, let’s try with Something else…Are you single?
Yes, sure am!

-Will you comeback in Italy, for me :)

Will you bring me for pizza and gelato?

-Okay, the interview is over..and dumb questions too :), thank you for your willingness.

Thanks for all the support, i miss you guys!!
