-LR11's BSE Tour 2008 – My report-

I started travelling along with the BSE Tour after some training sessions at the Squared Circle Wrestling School, where I met a lot of new people and newcomers, like Greg, and met again some old friends.

Since the 9th of August until the 23rd, I’ve been part of the BSE Tour crossing Canada. It was such a great experience. I have wrestled in 6 matches and been the referee in 3. And I consider myself more than satisfied.

I really needed to be in Tour with Pro Wrestlers for two weeks. I learned so much. Although, getting into the world of Pro Wrestling at once changes you a lot and it seems like going back to school… you have to listen, let others give you advices and put to practice everything you’ve learned.

But the fun part of the Tour starts before the Tour itself. In fact, the television show “Guinea Pig” on Discovery Channel has its protagonist experience most of the weirdest, most dangerous and most body breaking disciplines in the world. He chose the Squared Circle Wrestling Training School as the temple of his wrestling experience, going through 2 training sessions and one show with hardcore matches. We spent two days shooting all the time and I must say we worked so hard. But this is what TV is about, guys: waiting and waiting, on and on. But we had a great time anyway. During the shootings, I’ve shown the guy the basics of bumps, dropkicks, legdrops and so much more. We also taped a little match, in which I had to get, among other moves, a double clothesline; we had to shoot that sequence at least 6 times and they beat the crap out of me. Also Shantelle (aka Taylor Wilde) was there during the training demonstration. I was very happy to meet here again after 3 year, to see the TNA Knockout Championship around her waist and… to get a beat-up by her, ahahah. As soon as I know the airing time of the show, I’ll tell you.

This Tour started big time for me! At the beginning I wasn’t scheduled to be in any match, the best thing I could think of was refereeing some matches. But it would have been a great experience anyway. On the contrary, I had my great opportunity and I was regularly scheduled for some matches, not as a replacement for other missing wrestlers. Rob Fuego gave me his trust and I didn’t let him down. Having the trust of such a great person like him makes me very proud of all the hard work and sacrifices I did. I respect him very much.

One hour before the show started, Rob asked me “Have you brought your wrestling stuff?” – “Yes, I have” – “Good, then you’ll be in a match tonight with that guy right there”. You can imagine how shocked and nervous were I and my opponent, moreover he was debuting that night, as a matter of fact; it was his first match in front of a crowd. The match was short and it was all right. By that night, I was always involved in shows and also the experience as referee helped me a lot. Rob couldn’t be there at the last 2 shows and he had to get back to Toronto and deal with some family matters; we were missing the ref, so I had to substitute him, but the success of the shows was much more important than being in two more matches to me.

It was so emotional. Especially when you step into the ring of such a great Indy. You’re the man, you stand up for the BSE, your match is about to kick off and you have the responsibility to make a great show on your shoulders as much as all the other guys. You know they trust you and they rely on you as much as you do on them. Your match is about to begin and you’re in a ring where great superstars such as Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, Taylor Wilde, Abyss, AJ Styles, Eric Young, Robert Roode, Christopher Daniels and many more have been before you. Not to mention, the wonderful roster of the BSE, which was made of most of the trainees of the Squared Circle Training, plus your “opponent” standing in front of you. And in the backstage there are Rhino and Joe E. Legend main eventing the night, and being in the first two matches means setting the level of the show. And if you don’t do a good job, you’re going to have to deal with the two of them when the show’s over, eheheheh.

We had so little time for so many things to do. Wake up and go, 5-6 hours by car with meal stops-by, get to the hotel, go to the arena, set the ring up, get ready while you’re talking about the match, go back to the hotel, eat, sleep and then all over again. We had some days off, but you just end up to go to the gym.

We weren’t short of difficulties. On day one, a dumbass crashed our car, which was replaced with a new one some days later. A tyre failure to the truck transporting the ring forced us to a long stop-by to the mechanic. And if this wasn’t enough, we were blocked by the customs between Ontario and Manitoba, as these two provinces have different laws concerning heavy transports. One night, the burglar alarm of one of the cars, a fuckin’ minivan with automatic lock, started ringing and we could do nothing but calling the customer service. But my favourite one was when we were almost out of fuel, then somebody said “Don’t worry, this is a double-tank truck.”… but it wasn’t. So me, Rob and Traci were stuck in the middle of the road like 3 dumbasses… and of course Joe E. Legend and Rhino, who were behind us with their car, didn’t miss the chance to make fun of us. But it was so much fun, eheheh.

Working with these guys, living the real Pro Wrestling, is something that opened my eyes wide, that made me see a side of wrestling I could only see on a “pedestal” just some days before this experience. Now, I’m inside it, and I love it. And by the way, it’s not easy to change one’s mentality, especially if you spent so much time in the environment of the Italian wrestling world, where wrestlers are more like fans and they see the guys of WWE, TNA and high level Indies as superstars and not as colleagues.

The public, even if it wasn’t very large, was so much easier to thrill than the European public. These people know how to cheer, appreciate and set their minds on a wrestling show.

At the end, I can only say I’m satisfied by the Tour. I had the chance and the privilege to work with people like Cody45, a guy I’ve always respected since 2005 and I respect so much more now that I’ve got to know his better. Murat, probably the best in Germany and a great guy. And all of the people I worked with during this Tour: Joe E. Legend, Traci Brooks, El Tornado, Rhino, Big Brian Youngblood, Pierre Shadows, Angel De Guerra, Bang Bang Pete, Sombra, Sebastian Suave, Xtremo, Mike Alias, Brent B, Josh Taylor, Marcus "the Great" Marques, Super Panther...

… not to mention, the two great comedians who travelled with us: Randy (as "Kholesterol Kid") and Mr. Lahey, straight from the “Trailer Park Boys”

I also thank Arda Ocal, co-promoter of the Tour and, of course, Rob Fuego, who believed in me and gave me the chance to be a part of this fantastic Tour.

Thank you so much, guys.
