-wXw presents: NOAH Genesis in Germany
By David Schmida ( www.thewrestlingpress.com )

Throughout the years, the people behind Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) have managed to build strong bonds with wrestling organizations from all over the world which resulted in presenting numerous events with these partners in Germany.

Now fans have the chance to witness the possibly biggest event in the history of wXw when Pro-Wrestling NOAH hits Oberhausen for their: “Genesis in Germany”

And it’s not like they undersell their card for May 15th. Three matches are advertised as “International Dream Matches” and although it’s in the hands of the fans to decide whether a bout is a dream match or not it’s hard to argue with that term in this case.

Chris Hero, former wXw World Heavyweight Champion and 16 Carat Gold tournament winner, squares off against KENTA. The three-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion is obviously no stranger to fans of the German promotion as he stepped in the ring for wXw in 2008 when he defeated Claudio Castagnoli in a wXw vs NOAH match series.

That brings us directly to the aforementioned Claudio Castagnoli. The Swiss, also a former wXw World Heavyweight Champion and one of Europe’s most successful exports in independent wrestling, is scheduled to meet GHC Heavyweight Champion Takashi Sugiura from Nagoya, Japan in another “International Dream Match”.

Go Shiozaki, two-time participant in wXw’s prestigious 16 Carat Gold tournament, steps in the ring with the “Bad Bones” John Kay. The German beat Shiozaki in a singles match in 2007 but lost a few tag team matches to the Japanese and his respective partners. Shiozaki on the other hand has had a great start in wXw in 2011 when he beat Johnny Moss and Kotaro Suzuki to advance to the semi finals of this year’s 16 Carat Gold tournament.

The new wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion Big Van Walter will clash with Shuhei Taniguchi from Kurayoshi, Japan. The year didn’t start off too well for the Austrian since he lost the company’s top title to Daisuke Sekimoto in January of this year. But he came back stronger than ever as he reached the finals of the 16 Carat Gold tournament for the second time in row, something no one has done before, and just days ago beat Sekimoto in a hard fought battle for “his” title in Japan. It’s Taniguchi’s first match in Germany and it seems that his chances for a victory are pretty small.

Katsuhiko Nakajima steps in the ring with Ricky Marvin in what is advertised as a “World Class Junior Heavyweight Encounter”. The Mexican defeated Taiji Ishimori in the first round of wXw’s Light Heavyweight Championship tournament in 2006 prior to losing a five way elimination match for the strap and hasn’t returned to Germany since. Nakajima is a former GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion; he beat none other than KENTA for the belt, and wrestles his first match on German soil.

The aforementioned Taiji Ishimori, former two-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, will exchange holds with the technical wizard Zack Sabre Jr. The former wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion from the UK is a mainstay in the promotion and a victory against Ishimori on May 15th could help him move back into wXw’s title picture.

Axeman from Dresden, Germany will step in the ring with 22-year old Satoshi Kajiwara. The young German has worked his way up in wXw but hasn’t been very successful against wrestlers from Japan so far. There’s no doubt that he’ll want to turn the trend around against Kajiwara.

Emil Sitoci, UK’s Johnny Moss and 2-Face who’ll face the organization’s World Tag Team Champions Adam Polak and Karsten Beck known as “The Mind” and Thommy End round up a dynamite card.
